From providing imperishable food supplies to those in need to hosting collection drives, our local initiatives foster community resilience, social welfare, and deep care for those in need.

May the tree of our lives be rooted in the soil of love, may good deeds be the leaves, kind words be the flowers, and peace be the fruit. May the world flourish as one family, united in love. Local Service Projects

Amma's Pantry

Some Amma Satsang groups and centers also collect and distribute clothing, household items or food staples for communities in need. In the Bay Area, the Amma’s Pantry initiative, launched in 2013, has collected an equivalency of 76,656 meals – for distribution to local food kitchens, food pantries, and directly into local communities.

There are two types of poverty in the world. The first type is due to the lack of food, clothing and shelter. The second type is the poverty of love and compassion. We need to deal with the second type of poverty first. If we have love and compassion, we will wholeheartedly serve and help those who lack food, clothing and shelter.

Cleanup Drives

Local chapters regularly partner with local environmental groups to clean up trash in urban public spaces and restore natural settings. Regional groups (like the Oregon Satsangs) organize street and freeway-side litter pick-ups, bringing youth and families together to care for their local cities.

Senior Care Center Visits

Organized by localized groups and children's programs, volunteers visit local nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, and assisted-living centers. They distribute care packages, cards, and spend time offering companionship and seasonal cheer to elderly residents.

Young people should remember that very soon they will also be in the same state that their parents and grandparents are in now. Don't ever forget that it is what we give today that comes back to us tomorrow.

Warm Clothing Drive

Regional centers run annual winter collection drives in collaboration with local interfaith shelters, gathering warm items like hats, gloves, socks, and coats for neighbors experiencing hardship. Youth chapters frequently run targeted warm jacket and apparel drives to support women's shelters and families experiencing domestic violence.

Lead Us to Sight (Eye Glass Donation Drive)

A recurring volunteer initiative that collects used prescription eyeglasses and reading glasses. The collected eyewear is cleaned, sorted, and distributed to economically disadvantaged individuals globally who lack access to vision care.

School Supplies & Backpack Drives

Volunteers across regional chapters organize dedicated donation drives to distribute critical items like stocked backpacks, school supplies, toys, clothing, and essential household goods directly to disadvantaged youth and families.
