More than 224,000 people are affected by blindness in the country, however, most ophthalmological services in Kenya are centered in urban environments. To address the need for quality ophthalmological healthcare in rural areas, Embracing the World organizes regular medical camps, sending volunteer doctors to impoverished areas for on-site medical examinations and treatment.

When Daliya was born, she didn't cry like other babies. The doctors recommended she get a physical exam at AIMS, a not-for-profit top hospital in Kerala, India, founded by Amma where the poor could have access to advanced medical care in an atmosphere of love and compassion.

A new vocational training program for disadvantaged youth was launched at Amrita Watoto Boma, care home in Athi River, Nairobi. For a period of three months, 90 youth will receive training in IT, electrical engineering, hospitality and garment making. The initiative is a joint venture between CAPs-Youth Empowerment Institute and Mata Amritanandamayi Math Charitable Trust, Kenya.
